Participation in the arts is one of the most transformative avenues to success for Jemicy students. An above average percentage of students with language-based learning differences are creatively gifted. Through the arts, Jemicy students have the opportunity to develop confidence, focus, self-direction, and independence, which carries through to the classroom and life. Skills developed through Jemicy’s award winning arts program enhance and extend academic instruction by fostering creative problem solving, strengthening, executive function skills, and encouraging collaboration.

Lower and middle school students participate in arts classes daily. Skills and concepts taught in other disciplines, including counting, symmetry, memorization strategies, sequencing, planning, cognitive flexibility, and creative thinking, are supported and reinforced through the arts.

The Upper School Visual Arts Program at Jemicy provides abundant opportunities for students to develop visual, spatial, and creative intelligence, while also, building confidence, focus, and self-direction.

The Upper School Performing Arts Program, which has received international recognition and awards, offers students of all levels a creative multi-sensory experience of self-expression, self-discovery, and transformation. 
TOMLINSON THEATER
JEMICY’S THEATER INSPIRES STUDENTS TO DISCOVER, DEVELOP, AND SHARE THEIR REMARKABLE TALENTS
Completed in 2015, the state-of-the-art Tomlinson Theater provides an ideal venue for the performing arts for all three divisions of the school – Lower, Middle and Upper. Seating 325, the fully accessible Tomlinson Theater features a professional scale 48-foot-wide proscenium stage; a single purchase counterweight fly system; a technologically advanced control room including three lighting consoles and a multi-channel audio mixing console; 200 conventional and intelligent lights; an art gallery entryway; and dressing rooms. Retractable seats enable both traditional on-stage and in the round productions.
