New Board Chair and Alumnus: Nate Tower '80
Jemicy is thrilled to have, for the first time in the school’s history, an alumnus as chair of the Board of Trustees. Nate got to JEMICY in what should have been 3rd grade not able to read or write, So he knows firsthand the life changing experience that Jemicy provided then and continues to provide now. He often shares, “Jemicy didn’t change my life, it saved my life.”
Nate had the privilege of being taught to read by Joyce Bilgrave, one of the iconic educators and founders of Jemicy School. He thrived while at Jemicy and attributes any success he has had up to this point to the educators that never gave up on him. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster and a master’s degree in real estate from Johns Hopkins University. Nate is currently the founder and managing member of Broad Reach Retail Partners, LLC., which focuses on buying and fixing struggling grocery-anchored shopping centers. Since its inception, Broad Reach has completed the turnaround of 65 shopping centers located in 17 states.
Throughout the years, Nate stayed connected to Jemicy. He was instrumental in the formation of the Alumni Association, attended events, and generously supported the school’s mission and initiatives. Eager to heighten his involvement, Nate became a member of Jemicy’s board in 2017. During his tenure, he served for multiple years as a member of the Building and Grounds and the Long-range Planning Implementation Committees, the latter of which he eventually co-chaired. Last year, he became vice-chair of the board, which ideally prepared him to assume the helm at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. Nate’s dedication to Jemicy is sincere and heartfelt, “I am grateful for the honor and opportunity to give back to the school that enabled my life’s successful journey.”
